“So, how does getting a new water and sand play table for the kids sound to you?” I have popped the question to the hubby on a few occasions.
“Expensive!!!”
Yup. A couple hundred dollars for an elevated tub sure seems over-priced.
I’ve wanted to purchase a water and sand table for the kids since i-dun-remember-when. But apart from the cost, there were a few other considerations which kept it in the “maybe, but” list.
Where should I store a huge water and sand play table? *hum…*
How long will it been useful to me (and my kids)? *hum hum…*
Then came one fine day when I was packing the girls room… I sat on our ikea bursjon storage box and eureka!
It’s so easy to convert an ikea bursjon storage box into a water and sand play table, that I wonder why didn’t I think of it earlier!
This is how I got my kids a water and sand play table in 20 mins and under 30 bucks.
Materials:
Ikea Bursjon Storage – $12.90
Anti-slip Mat – $2
Double-sided tape (water resistant)
Scissors
Step 1:
Stick 2 rolls of double-sided tape on 1 side of the anti-slip mat
Step 2:
Cut along the edge of the tape
Step 3:
Line and stick the length of anti-slip mat along the inner edge of the tub
Now, flip the lid (wrong side up) and place it on to the top of the tub.
Tadaaahhh! Your very own waterplay table for 30 dollars!
Fill it with water or sand and you are ready for a splashy and/or messy good time!
Join as many bursjon tables as you like for more water and sand play!
Done playing? Pack all your bath and sand toys into the storage. Rinse and leave it to drain and dry under the sun before you put on the lid (now the right side up) and keep it into storage.
Easy peasy?
Try it! You can do-it-yourself too!

Ingenious and Oh So Easy! What a hack!
Cool idea! I also use IKEA container for Emma’s waterplay but it’s low so she sits on the floor. Seems like it’s a good way to elevate the container.
brilliant idea!!!
We have something to do this weekend.
